Brush Care

Clean brushes.

Happy face. Flawless application

So today with you guys my personal brush care routine that I do for my makeup brushes.I love the feeling of clean brushes as well as how smoother the makeup application process becomes. I am an advocate for clean brushes because not only does it prevent breakouts it also help with the blending process. Like I said .. I love clean brushes but I am very lazy in cleaning them. Some brushes (foundation mostly) are sometimes stubborn to clean.

I wanted to write this post because I honestly just want to share some of my personal tricks in how I care for my brushes. When I firs started I began using expensive brush cleaners… umm no!! I dropped that habit ASAP. Your brushes already can cost a fortune and well I was not OK with spending $15+ for a brush cleaning solution that was gone in seconds. I also found that they didn’t clean as well as I thought.. I mean for that price I was expecting something that just magically made them clean in seconds.

The Recipe

For starters, I just want to point out that this is the process that works for me sooo now that that is out of the way ;

Deep Clean
Products Used:

  • gloves (because I don’t like my hands getting pruney)
  • mild dish soap
  • makeup face cleanser (I pour a bit of my daily face cleanser)
  • & my hair conditioner (for scent and softness)

I mix the soaps together , swirl on my hand, & rinse until water runs clear. Then add a bit of conditioner and lay flat to dry.

Quick Clean
Products Used:

  • 70-90% of your good ol’ rubbing alcohol & a tissue.

That is the best thing for any MUA on the go that ain’t got the time to wash and dry brushes .. especially when they have multiple clients. That stuff is my go-to during the week & then during the weekend I give them all a deep cleanse.

Hope this helps. XO
