Platano Frito
central american cuisine
So my name is Stephanie and I am Honduran- American.
What does this mean? My parents are from Honduras and they come with that good traditonal food in their veins. Above is one of my favorite central american food .. le platano frito.
Served with refried beans and sour cream (frijoles fritos and crema)
This is a easy to make dish but I will say this now.. it is not for everyone.
It is not done with your typical banana as many people think. It’s done with a ripe plantains.
Ususally I like making mine with plantains that aren’t so ripe because you can avoid some “sweetness”.
If you live in the Los Angeles area you should definitely stop by Sonsonate Grill.
I love this place !! They serve this dish as an appetizer but be warned.. it is pretty amazing.
Also don’t forget to order yourself some cheese and revueltas pupsas as well as the ensalada de fruta.
You will thank me later. Keep reading to view a simple recipe for this dish.
